For the first time, a Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door has been observed in testing in India: Check specifics

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on a new long-wheelbase Jimny, which is expected to make its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. The 5-door Jimny was originally sighted in Europe in July during testing. Spy images of the Jimny being tested in India have now been discovered online. The three-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny model is already produced in India and exported to other countries.

The business previously stated that it would also be launching the Suzuki Jimny to India. At the Auto Expo 2023, the firm is anticipated to introduce the five-door Jimny to the Indian public, and it may then debut the vehicle shortly after.

A 360-degree camera, steering-mounted controls, a sizable touchscreen infotainment system, and the recognisable AllGrip Pro four-wheel-drive system are all anticipated features of the future SUV.

The Jimny 5-door will measure about 3,850mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,730mm in height. At this length, The Jimny will be similar in length to the Maruti Suzuki Swift. The wheelbase, at 2550 mm, is large. In comparison to the three-door model, the five-door version is anticipated to have larger boot capacity.

The 1.5-liter, four-cylinder K15C petrol engine is expected to be mated to either a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission in the next five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

Mahindra, a significant auto manufacturer, plans to introduce 5-door SUVs to the Indian market by the end of the current year. Thanks to a sturdier foundation, updated penta-link suspension, and wider track, the new Mahindra Thar 5-door is anticipated to provide more stability on the road than the 3-door variant.

For those who don’t know, the 5-door Thar will be about 4.3 metres long compared to the 3-door model’s under 4 metres. The Scorpio N is 60mm longer than the Thar and has a 4.7-meter length. Having five doors and the ability to comfortably fit more passengers than its predecessors, the Mahindra Thar is more of a family vehicle.
